How to Become an Adult Well with Art was a summer workshop held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) with 14 children aged 11-15 and 12 university student volunteers. Over three days, participants deepened their understanding of contemporary art (conceptual art) while experiencing its appeal and joy.

We posed "instructions for becoming an adult well" to participants, such as "Buy ¥1000 worth of yourself" and "Pretend to sleep, then give form to the dream you had." Through their responses and expressions, participants discovered the importance of original ideas and perspectives. We spent time earnestly attempting absurd things and playfully exploring conceptual and philosophical questions—an "artful" experience. On the final day, participants presented a performance concert showcasing their own created "instructions," followed by an archive exhibition of the three-day activities.
