For many years, I have been creating collage works using sales catalogs of construction materials, packaging supplies, and public signage. These catalogs, originally produced for practical use in industrial and urban contexts, contain printed fragments whose textures, compositions, and sometimes humorous arrangements quietly draw me in. They seem to carry traces of society’s movements and atmospheres—evoking unspoken questions and sensations that rise to the surface without the need for words.

Most of the works are small in scale, ranging from sticky-note size (approximately 75×75mm) to A5 (150×210mm). I cut materials into fragments—often only a few millimeters to three centimeters wide—using scissors and a cutter, then place them by hand with tweezers and a magnifying glass, composing each piece with care.

This series of collages began in response to the September 11 attacks in 2001. It started as an attempt to quietly layer emotions I could not put into words. Over time, it has continued to grow—shaped by memories of people I met through various projects, unrealized ideas, and feelings that resist easy articulation. Each piece is not meant to instruct or impose a specific interpretation, but rather to exist as a gentle question—one that opens space for imagination and personal reflection.
