Attuning to the fragments of everyday life.
Since 2001, I have been creating a series of small collages made from catalogues—those that advertise building materials, packaging supplies, and public signage. These printed materials, though born for practical use, seem to carry subtle traces of the world around us. Beneath their utilitarian surface, I often sense quiet questions or feelings arising—unspoken, yet palpable.
Each collage is composed of fragments cut from these catalogues—ranging from just a few millimeters to about three centimeters—arranged with tweezers and a magnifying glass. These are intimate, hand-sized works, varying in scale from the dimensions of a sticky note (75×75mm) to around A5 (150×210mm).
While this series is grounded in personal sentiments and questions drawn from daily life, I do not intend for each piece to convey a fixed message. Rather, I hope they exist as small, open-ended invitations—fragments that gently stir the viewer’s imagination, allowing new meanings to emerge in quiet and unexpected ways.
