Mindscapes was an international cultural program reimagining approaches to mental health through art and culture, hosted by Wellcome. Connecting four cities—New York, Bengaluru, Berlin, and Tokyo—the program brought together diverse perspectives at the intersection of science, society, and culture, at a time when one in four people globally experience mental health challenges each year.

As Artistic Director for Tokyo, I conceived and led three strands of activity: "Convening"—dialogue sessions examining Japanese mental health from multiple perspectives; the "UI Urban Research Project"—an experimental collaborative investigation led by artists and youth; and Mindscapes Tokyo Week at Yurakucho Art Urbanism, where a year of work was brought together and shared.

Central to the program was a commitment to "Lived Experience"—holding individual perspectives alongside professional expertise, and creating space for insights rooted in everyday life.
