STORY

In the 2000s, I created works driven by my struggles with eating and body image, shaped by childhood trauma from bullying. Skinshipu is one such work—a durational performance based on instructions that emerged from this exploration.

The actions consisted of hitting my body to awaken it, dipping cloth into water, and wearing it layer by layer until I could no longer stand or walk. Unbound by time, with a strong improvisational element, the piece was both a message and a personal act of confronting the changes and traumas within my own body.

2000年代、幼少期のいじめによるトラウマを背景に、食/食べることやボディイメージに関連したテーマで制作を続けていた。皮膚の罠ースキンシップーは、その探求から生まれたインストラクションに基づく持続的なパフォーマンス作品である。

体をたたく行為から始まり、水分を含ませた服を一枚一枚重ね着し続け、動けなくなるまで行う。時間の制約に縛られず、即興的な要素が強い本作は、メッセージを持ちながら、自身の身体の変化やトラウマと向き合う試みでもあった。
