STORY

In everyday life, what do we choose to keep, and what do we let go of?

This work is completed through a simple action: participants find something they consider unnecessary in the present moment, choose one item, and leave it here. After placing it, they take a step back and observe what has gathered.

We live by letting go of countless things each day. In the moment we decide something is “unnecessary,” our values and positions quietly reveal themselves.

The objects left on the wall become traces of individual choices, expanding across the space like a mirror that reflects the arbitrariness of value and what is acknowledged—or overlooked—within society. When we step back to look, what kind of landscape emerges from this accumulation?

日々の生活のなかで、私たちは何を残し、何を手放しているのでしょうか。この作品は、参加者が「いまの自分にとっていらないもの」をひとつ見つけ、選び、ここに置いていくという、シンプルな行為によって成立します。置いたあとは一歩下がり、そこに集まっていくものたちを眺めます。

私たちは日々、無数のものを手放しながら生きていますが、「いらない」と判断するその瞬間には、自分自身の価値観や立ち位置が静かに表れます。

壁に置かれていくものたちは、一人ひとりの選択の痕跡であり、価値の恣意性や、社会のなかで何が認知され、何が見過ごされてきたのかを映し出すように、空間に広がっていきます。一歩引いて眺めたとき、その集積はどのような光景として立ち現れるのでしょうか。
