STORY

"Missing" carries multiple layers: something absent, something lost, something longed for—what once existed, what ought to exist, what we still believe must exist somewhere.

Participants breathe into a balloon, infusing it with their feelings and intentions, then write words that express what their hearts desire or what they feel is missing in society. As they re-encounter the words they have written, they gently release the balloon into the space. Writing what is missing moves it outward; feeling it again takes it back inward. Through this sequence, a moment emerges in which personal absence and social absence overlap.

The balloons drifting through the space carry individual words, crossing paths as if engaged in quiet dialogue. The work seeks to present the state of missing not as something negative, but as a point of connection—a margin open toward the future.
The balloons, a collective of unfulfilled wishes, gradually deflate over time. Their fragility reflects the vulnerability of ideals and hopes, while quietly affirming the value of continuing to imagine, even so.

「missing」という言葉には、欠けていること、失われたこと、恋しさ、かつてあったもの、あるべきもの、そして今もどこかに存在しているはずだという切望など、複数の意味が重なっている。

参加者が自分の思いとともに風船に息を吹き込み、こころが求めていることや、社会に欠けていると感じることを言葉として風船に書き留める。その言葉をあらためて感じながら、そっと風船を空間へと手放す——欠けているものを「書いて外に出し」、もう一度「感じて内に受け止める」。その行為を通して、個人の内なる欠如と社会の欠如が重なり合う瞬間が生まれる。

空間に漂う風船たちは、それぞれの言葉を載せながら交差し、まるで静かな対話を交わすかのように存在する。満たされない願いの集合体でもある風船は、やがて時間とともにしぼんでいく。

その儚さは理想や希望の脆さを映し出すと同時に、それでも想像し続けることの尊さを静かに象徴している。本作は、「欠けている」という状態を否定的なものとしてではなく、つながりが生まれる起点、未来へと開かれた余白として提示する。The balloons, which also form a collective of unfulfilled wishes, gradually deflate over time.
