STORY

Feast was developed as my graduate thesis project—a pivotal moment in realizing the power of collaboration in storytelling. Inspired by my own relationship with food and its challenges, I sought to explore the theme more extensively, recognizing its potential for narrative expression beyond individual experience.

To initiate the project, I conducted interviews with nine artists, exploring topics such as meals, eating habits, and food culture. As host, I prepared sculptural dishes inspired by the traditional Japanese small dining table, ozen（お膳）, based on each conversation. Each participant engaged in a two-hour performance—"eating" and "consuming" these dishes while welcoming guests. My own table incorporated ingredients drawn from all nine participants, symbolizing the fusion of diverse perspectives.
The performance space consisted of 10 tables surrounded by grids made from handmade paper embedded with actual vegetables—cabbage, radish, carrot, beetroot—the staples of my diet at the time.

晩餐会 (Feast) は、大学院の卒業制作作品である。物だけでは語れない、自己表現だけでは語り尽くせないテーマほど、共創することでより本質的なストーリーテリングにつながる——そのことを深く実感した作品でもあった。

自らの食への向き合い方を出発点に、食についてより幅広く探求するため、9名のアーティストに食事や食する行為、食文化について幅広くインタビューを行った。晩餐会のホストとして、各々のインタビューをもとに準備した素材・食材で日本のお膳を彷彿とさせる彫刻を創作し、それぞれのために調理した一品を「食べる」「消費する」2時間のパフォーマンスを行った。私自身は9名の食材を組み合わせたお膳を食した。
パフォーマンス空間は、10のお膳台を囲むように、当時の主食であったキャベツ、大根、人参、ビーツなどの野菜を漉き込んだ手漉き紙の格子で構成された。
